Domaine Gramenon was founded in 1978 when Michèle Aubéry-Laurent and husband Philippe bought a farmhouse and its vineyards in Montbrison-sur-Lez, in the Prealps of the Drôme Provençale, at the north-eastern edge of Southern Rhône.
Since their first vintage in 1990, the two had been committed to challenge the restrictions imposed by the appellation and make wines that, thanks to a mix of creativity and sustainable practices, highlight the peculiarities of this unique terroir, a limestone plateau once covered by the sea at 350m of altitude.
After the sudden passing of Philippe in 1999, Michèle didn’t stop taking risks and kept focusing on the vitality of their numerous parcels of young and old vines to make elegant, grounding wines. By embracing both organic farming and biodynamic practices alongside a sustainable lifestyle, today Michèle runs the domaine with her son, the talented winemaker, Maxime-François Laurent.
