In the Haute Savoie, we visit Domaine Belluard and its steep vineyards around Ayze, where the late Dominique Belluard, a champion of biodynamic agriculture and sustainable practices, played a big role in helping Savoie gain recognition for its wines beyond the regional borders.
Here, around ten hectares of mountainous terroirs, extreme temperatures, and steep vineyards are home to a wide range of wines of intense minerality and complexity.
A charismatic winemaker, Dominique focused his work on native grapes such as the rare Gringet, which was in the past mainly used to make the local sparklings, to attain unique, age-worthy, elegant white wines.
Join our sommelier James in the private dining room La Cachette for a rare opportunity to taste side by side a wide range of older vintages from this iconic domaine, alongside snacks by the kitchen.
The Wines:
Les Alpes 2016
