Wine Tasting: Labet Study

The Labet family has never steered away from change. Since the seventies, Alain and Josie were amongst the first in the Jura to experiment with topped-up whites at a time when the local fashion was to age the wines oxidatively. This, combined with an environmentally respectful approach to the work in the vineyard, has allowed them to tap into, and let unfold, the subtle nuances of this varied terroir.

Alain’s son Julien had already been working alongside his family since 1997. It wasn’t until 2012, that Julien and his siblings, Charline and Romain, were offered the reins of the family business and with that, the freedom to embark on a project of converting the entire domaine to organic agriculture. This, alongside their attention to detail, the focus on single plot vintages and longer vinifications, took the wines to extraordinary levels of precision and elegance.
